Let it be known that M. Night Shyamalan’s Glass is not your typical superhero movie.
While the likes of Avengers: Infinity War and Ant-Man and the Wasp are all about straight-laced heroes overcoming near-impossible odds, Glass cuts a little deeper to present a character study on three superpowered individuals: Kevin Wendell Crumb (James McAvoy), Elijah Price (Samuel L. Jackson) and David Dunn (Bruce Willis).
But whereas Crumb and Dunn are fiery loose cannons capable of wreaking havoc, it’s Samuel L. Jackson’s Elijah Price who emerges as an “orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.” That’s very much the case with today’s all-new trailer, in which you’ll see all three of Shyamalan’s superheroes (?) in action. Let the countdown to January 18th begin…
If you’ve been keeping a close eye on Glass‘ promotional campaign hitherto, you’ll know that American Horror Story alum Sarah Paulson has joined the franchise as Dr. Ellie Staple, a “psychiatrist specializing in delusions of grandeur.” Sounds like her expertise are just what the doctor ordered, and above you’ll be able to get a sense of the character dynamics underpinning Shyamalan’s trilogy-capper.
Elsewhere on the casting docket, we have Anya Taylor-Joy, who’s also back to reprise the role of Casey Cooke, where she joins Charlayne Woodard (Elijah’s mom) and Spencer Treat Clark (David’s son) for the 2019 thriller. The latter duo seemingly has a “big role” to play in the forthcoming pic, though as this is an M. Night Shyamalan gig, perhaps it’s best to expect the unexpected.
Lifting elements (and characters!) from both Unbreakable and Split, Shyamalan’s Glass will deliver the cinematic finale to this most bizarre movie trilogy on January 18th.
