Hamill’s message came in response to some artwork shared by Twitter user @Khallion in anticipation of this year’s Star Wars Celebration. The poster shows Luke and his sister Leia Organa in their final scene together, and among the many glowing responses to the image was a tweet from Hamill, who singled out this moment as a highlight from the 2017 flick:

“Thanks @Khallion for this beautiful interpretation of my favorite moment in the film!”

Luke and Leia’s last moments of shared screen time were rendered all the more poignant by the passing of Carrie Fisher in 2016. Since then, Lucasfilm has announced that the longtime star of the saga will be appearing once more in the upcoming Star Wars: Episode IX by way of unused footage shot during the making of The Last Jedi and The Force Awakens.

Though details of Leia’s screen time in J.J. Abrams’ next film remain vague, both Fisher’s co-star Oscar Isaac and her brother Todd Fisher have had some enthusiastic words to say about the sendoff that Episode IX offers her.

We still have a good few months to wait before we find out what Abrams has in mind, but in the meantime, fans are currently hoping that April’s Star Wars Celebration will offer a few revelations from this year’s trilogy-closer. Interestingly, the director recently went on record saying that the backlash to Star Wars: The Last Jedi didn’t have any influence on his approach to Episode IX. Either way, the Force Awakens helmsman isn’t exactly known to go against the grain, but you can bet that his film will still spawn plenty of debate when it hits theaters on December 20th, 2019.
