So long as Lucsasfilm continues to sit on the first trailer for Star Wars: Episode IX – not to mention the film’s official title – Mark Hamill will continue to take pleasure in trolling his fans, with the actor once more responding to demands for details with a corny pun.
By now, it’s become a popular prediction that the first teaser for J.J. Abrams’ upcoming trilogy-closer will premiere at next month’s Star Wars Celebration, but since we’ve yet to receive any official confirmation on the matter, fans are still pestering Hamill via Twitter for the trailer date. Consequently, the actor has now shared a photo of his “own personal Star Wars trailer,” along with the following call for patience:
“People keep asking me over & over & over again- ‘When will they release the #EpisodeIX trailer?’
- A) I don’t know.
- B) Until they do, just be satisfied with this exclusive look at my own personal #StarWars trailer.#PatiencePadawans #IXWillBeFineAllInGoodTime”
For those wondering, the pictured space isn’t an Episode IX “trailer” in any sense of the word, with Hamill going on to clarify that the photo was taken during production of The Last Jedi.
At this point, most of Hamill’s Twitter followers know better than to come to the star asking for Episode IX content. The Luke Skywalker actor has even made this same “trailer” pun on multiple occasions, and has responded to demands for a title reveal with all sorts of fake names, from “Star Wars: Episode IX – Yoda’s Bar Mitzvah,” to “Star Wars: Episode IX – A Bunch More Stuff Happens.”
As for when the trailer and title might actually drop, many fans currently have their hopes pinned on April 12th, which is when Abrams is scheduled to speak at a Celebration panel about this year’s release. It’s definitely one of the better guesses we’ve seen so far, but regardless of the material that’s headed our way next month, we’ve still got most of the year to wait before Star Wars: Episode IX hits theaters on December 20th, 2019.
