While Mark Hamill’s Twitter feed is pretty much the last place you want to go to for information on the upcoming Star Wars: Episode IX, the actor’s online mischief at least serves as a generous source of troll humor and dad jokes. Just take this recent tweet, which sees the Star Wars regular respond to fan demand for an Episode IX trailer with an image of, well, nine trailers.
“Episode 9 Trailers,” Hamill wrote, before adding, “#SorryNotSorry.” You can just picture the cheeky grin on the star’s face as he posted this, and seeing how this is the second time in the last month when the actor has trolled his followers with ‘trailer’ photos, it’s safe to say that Hamill is proud of this particular pun.
As for when the real Episode IX trailer might arrive, though it was a popular rumor in December that we’d be getting some footage by Christmas, recent reports allege that the teaser will be coming at some point in the first quarter of 2019. A recent piece from Making Star Wars even claimed inside knowledge that a version of the trailer has already been cut, though it’s unclear if this will be the final version that’s ultimately screened to the public.
In the meantime, it’s being widely predicted right now that a title reveal will be coming within the next month. And seeing how the subtitle of The Last Jedi was announced on January 23rd, 2017, this seems highly plausible. But whatever major unveilings are on the horizon, it’s still a fair wait before Star Wars: Episode IX hits theaters on December 20th, 2019, and until then, you can expect Hamill to keep finding new opportunities to mess with his fans.
