Avengers: Infinity War’s Mark Ruffalo Wishes Josh Brolin Happy Birthday With Savage Joke

Avengers: Infinity War ended with the Marvel universe at its darkest hour, with only a handful of the galaxy's mightiest heroes still standing and with half of the universal population reduced to dust. And it's all thanks to the Mad Titan and his Infinity Gauntlet-powered finger snap. But hey, at least it seems that Bruce Banner can find the lighter side of the scenario.

Today marks the 51st birthday of Thanos himself, Josh Brolin, and to celebrate the occasion, his MCU co-star Mark Ruffalo wrote a special birthday message on Twitter – and couldn’t resist making a snappy pun in the process.

“Happy Birthday to my Brother, Josh Brolin,” Ruffalo said. “Keep living the Dream. In a snap, it will be over.”

Behind the scenes, Brolin and Ruffalo are good pals. In fact, the former’s said that the latter was instrumental in getting him to agree to play Thanos in the first place. Apparently, Brolin turned to Ruffalo, knowing that he had a lot of experience portraying a MoCap character like the Hulk, and enquired about whether it’s worth the bizarre process of playing a CGI creation.

“‘It’s going to be really uncomfortable in the beginning,'” Brolin recalled his friend saying, “‘and then you see the movie, and you’ll just be absolutely blown away by the stuff you were doing,’”

On screen, however, the Hulk and Thanos have a very antagonistic relationship. In fact, it appeared that his heavy defeat at the Titan’s hands in the opening scene was what caused the Hulk to refuse to come out again for the rest of Avengers: Infinity War. Though the Russos have said that they didn’t mean to suggest that the Jade Giant was scared of Thanos, it kind of looks like the big guy just doesn’t want to go another round with the purple tyrant.

In any case, Ruffalo and Brolin will be reunited in this April’s Avengers: Endgame. And like the man says, the film will be arriving on cinema screens… in a snap.
