Mark Wahlberg wants to make a sequel to The Fighter, can you really blame him? The film did tremendously well with critics and had a pretty impressive showing at the Oscars as well. Aside from the fact that Wahlberg is still hunting for that Best Actor statue, especially after being shut out this year, he also wants to continue the story of Micky Ward. Extra got the chance to talk to Wahlberg on the red carpet this past Sunday and he talked about a possible sequel.
“Now we’re gonna talk about doing No. 2,” Wahlberg told Extra on the Oscar red carpet. “We’re gonna do the Ward /Gatti trilogy and make it real.”
The Ward/Gatti fights were some of the most vicious and brutal fights of Micky’s career and perhaps the fights that he is most well known for. They also made him about $3 million dollars, easily becoming the most lucrative fights for Ward. I think the fights would make for some great material to base the film on and I for one would love to see a sequel that focuses on the Ward/Gatti fights.
What do you think? Would you want to see a sequel to The Fighter?
