The God of Thunder is headed to Blu-ray and DVD sooner than initially thought.
Yes, after casting a spell over moviegoers late last year, Thor: Ragnarok will officially make its way onto home video on March 6th – two weeks after its debut via Digital HD. Score one for Team Reddit.
Marvel’s space oddity will be chock-full of special features, too, including deleted scenes, outtakes, and that hilarious one-shot featuring Thor’s decidedly average roommate, Darryl Jacobson (Daley Pearson). Entitled Team Darryl, the two-parter was originally rolled out last year, when Chris Hemsworth and Co. poked fun at Marvel’s decision to exclude the God of Thunder from Captain America: Civil War. Some wounds just never heal.
Further details on Ragnarok‘s Blu-ray content have yet to be revealed, as Marvel will likely hold fire until next month before showcasing its wares. Nevertheless, as today’s in-house trailer proves, Taika Waititi left a fair amount of footage on the editing room floor, while there have also been rumblings of a cut LGBT scene featuring Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) and Annabelle Riggs.
Perhaps Thompson’s bi-sexual hero will be given her due in two months’ time? It’s admittedly disappointing that Valkyrie’s most intimate moment didn’t make it into the theatrical cut, but after winning over the hearts and minds of moviegoers all over the world, there’s a good chance we haven’t seen the last of Ragnarok‘s breakout star. Watch this space for more.
Sandwiched in between Black Panther and a little-known Marvel property called Avengers: Infinity War, Taika Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok is now scheduled to hit Blu-ray and DVD on March 6th – two weeks after its initial release on Digital HD.
