CineEurope attendees were treated to a sneak preview of Avengers 4 earlier today – just don’t expect the footage to be released online anytime soon.
The Hollywood Reporter has the scoop, confirming that Joe and Anthony Russo’s untitled sequel was shown alongside the likes of Captain Marvel, Toy Story 4 and Ant-Man and the Wasp, which is now only three weeks out from its U.S. debut. Sadly, it seems those across the pond will be forced to wait until July before laying eyes on Scott Lang’s next solo adventure, a delay which has left co-star Evangeline Lilly feeling “pissed off.” We have the imminent World Cup to thank for that one, it seems.
For Disney, though, the Mouse House opened up the stage for Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, who has been instrumental in the franchise’s ongoing success – even after 10 years, the MCU continues to raise the bar, and one need only look at the meteoric, two-billion-dollar success story that is Avengers: Infinity War for evidence of that.
Anyways, here’s that CineEurope intel, hot off the presses:
From the Marvel Universe, celebrating its first 10 years (and a $16 billion box office haul), Kevin Feige served up some exclusive glimpses of the untitled fourth Avengers film, due for release in April 2019, alongside a special early look at Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, set to land in March 2019.
Exactly what was shown remains a total mystery at this point, as Marvel Studios is unlikely to release its Avengers 4 showreel anytime soon. And don’t hold your breath for any online leaks, either, as this isn’t Comic-Con, and many of the attendees at CineEurope don’t have access to phones while the presentation is taking place.
Besides, at the time of writing, Avengers 4 is a full 11 months out from its expected release, so do you really want things spoiled this far in advance? Let the excitement simmer; Kevin Feige and Co. will drop the official, HD footage when the time’s right…
