Marvel Fans Think Kit Harington Is The MCU’s New Wolverine

With all due respect to the How to Train Your Dragon films, Jon Snow in Game of Thrones is currently Kit Harington’s most famous role by a staggeringly wide margin, but now that the HBO series has reached its conclusion, Marvel fans are hoping that the actor has just landed an even more high-profile part in the MCU.

Just yesterday, Deadline broke the news that Harington is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as an unknown character. As it stands, it’s quite possible that Disney will clarify his role at this weekend’s D23 Expo, but until then, the fans are free to offer their theories and suggestions, and one idea that’s currently getting some traction is that Harington is playing none other than the adamantium-clawed mutant himself, Wolverine.

Of course, this is nothing more than speculation for the time being, but looking at the recent Twitter response, it’s plain to see that the actor passes the test for many a filmgoer:

Naturally, Harington is far from the only actor that the internet has suggested as the next Wolverine. In these past few months alone, we’ve seen a variety of popular fancasts ranging from Keanu Reeves to Taron Egerton to Tom Hardy. At the same time, the case can and has been made that Marvel Studios should instead enlist a relative unknown for the role, much like Jackman was when he first joined the cast of 2000’s X-Men.

In any case, if comments earlier this year from Kevin Feige are anything to go by, then it’ll likely be at least a few more years before any version of Wolverine makes his MCU debut, but in the meantime, here’s hoping that we’ll know a little more about Harington’s role before the weekend is out.
