Marvel Said To Be Making Big Phase 4 Announcement On Monday

Numerous outlets are reporting that Marvel has a big Phase 4-related announcement coming down the pipeline, and it's related to their cosmic universe.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be the “beginning of a whole other element of the Marvel Cosmic universe,” according to writer-director James Gunn.

It’s a journey that began with the release of the original Guardians of the Galaxy three years ago, and though that film was thought to be more than a bit of a gamble at the time, Star-Lord and co. have since gone on to become some of the most likable characters populating the Marvel Cinematic Universe – the sheer love and fandom generated by Baby Groot alone is a testimony to the team’s prevalence. And with the oncoming third movie in the Guardians trilogy, Gunn looks set to take things to another level.

But what comes after that? Well, it seems that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to get a whole lot more cosmic in the years to come. And that’s because numerous outlets are reporting that the studio has a big Phase 4 announcement set to drop on Monday and apparently, it has to do with their Cosmic universe. Further details haven’t been disclosed, but it’s said that it won’t involve any of the Fox properties that they’ll soon be acquiring, so we can at least rule that out.

Frankly, it’s hard to pinpoint what exactly the studio could be looking to announce, but former IGN editor Jeremy Conrad has been hyping it up both on Twitter and his website, while Segment Next and Cosmic Book News have also reported on it. Speaking to some of our sources, we’ve heard that it’s about an all-new franchise within the MCU, but again, people are keeping tight-lipped at the moment and it’s difficult to tell what may be coming down the pipeline.

Whatever it is they choose to reveal, we can’t imagine it being anything too groundbreaking or jaw-dropping. After all, it would be foolish to take people’s attention off of Avengers: Infinity War, which is now only a few weeks away and has a considerable amount of hype surrounding it. That doesn’t mean Marvel‘s announcement on Monday will be underwhelming or nothing to get excited about, but we’d advise that you manage your expectations appropriately.

Either way, we’ll let you know the moment the House of Ideas lifts the lid on whatever they’ve got planned, so be sure to stay tuned.
