Sadly, veteran actor Ray Stevenson has passed away at 58. Marvel Cinematic Universe fans would remember him as Volstagg. Debuting in the 2010 film Thor, Volstagg was a part of the Warriors Three alongside Fandrall and Hogun. One of Thor’s strongest and most trusted confidantes, Volstagg helped Thor in numerous wars and sided with him against his conflict with Loki. He even helped Thor disobey Odin twice. He was known for his wit and short temper as Volstagg and brought much-needed humor on-screen, which adds to the light-heartedness of the MCU films like Thor.
Acknowledging his presence in Thor films and being a part of the MCU, Marvel Studios paid tribute to the late actor in a post, remembering his role in the franchise and in many other films he graced with his acting.
The actor’s final appearance as Volstagg was in Thor: Ragnarok, wherein his character was killed off in a confrontation with Hela. Several other performing artists and filmmakers collaborated with Ray Stevenson, expressing their sorrow on his passing and paying similar tributes to the actor.
Stevenson’s last release before his demise was Accident Man: Hitman’s Holiday, a sequel to the 2008 movie Accident Man. However, the actor gained more widespread fame after taking on the role of Baylan Skoll in Ahsoka, which will be one of his posthumous releases. Baylon’s attire and orange lightsaber have recently made headlines among pop-culture fans, and they will be excited to see him make an appearance and leave a lasting impression.
His final two posthumous releases will be 1242: Gateway to the West and Cassino in Ischia are in different stages of production and will be announced soon.
