Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is still a long ways away, with a July 11th release date currently pencilled in. But that hasn’t stopped 20th Century Fox from going ahead and signing the film’s director, Matt Reeves, back on for the sequel. According to Deadline, Reeves will return to helm the third film in the series and he will also co-write the script with Mark Bomback.
The currently untitled sequel will shoot after the second film is finished but of course, no plot details have been released just yet. We do, however, have plot details for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. That film will follow a group of human survivors who “come into contact with Caesar and his evolved ape army.”
A teaser trailer for the highly anticipated sequel that appeared online not too long ago was rather impressive and though I wasn’t a fan of Rise of the Planet of the Apes, I am definitely looking forward to seeing what Reeves can do with the follow-up. After all, if the studio has already brought him back on for the next film, they must be very happy with the work he’s done so far.
