On May 2nd, 2018, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) turned ten years old – five short days after the launch of Avengers: Infinity War, no less – and still, the Powers That Be continue to celebrate what is undoubtedly Hollywood’s most successful film franchise of all-time.
At $17 billion (and change) after 20 mainline releases, the MCU has grossed more than Harry Potter, James Bond and Lucasfilm’s rebooted Star Wars saga. To be fair, with the exception of 007, there aren’t many movie franchises in Hollywood that have put out as many installments as the House of Ideas, but it’s a credit to Marvel Studios that even after all these years, audiences still flock to see the latest incarnation of the MCU – be it Infinity War or Ant-Man and the Wasp – in their droves.
That brings us to today’s news, which is sure to put a smile on the face of many a Marvel fan as Kevin Feige and co. will be sending all 20 films in the franchise back to IMAX theaters in honor of the studio’s 10th anniversary. That’s right, from the original Iron Man right through to Infinity War, all your favorites are returning to cinemas for you to view on the biggest screen possible.
From what we understand, the Marvel Studios 10th Anniversary Film Festival will run from August 30th to September 6th and take place in IMAX theaters across the United States and Canada. Tickets can be secured over on Fandango, and according to the official schedule (also found on Fandango), it’ll all kick off with Iron Man on the 30th.
This will also be the first time that the aforementioned 2008 pic, along with The Incredible Hulk and Captain America: The First Avenger have been shown in IMAX, so you certainly won’t want to miss out. And it all gets underway later this month, when the Marvel Cinematic Universe storms theaters for an unforgettable week of movies.
