Award-winning cinematographer Reed Morano (Kill Your DarlingsThe Skeleton Twins) is ramping up to make her directorial debut on the drama Meadowland, and yesterday, as principal photography kicked off in New York City, Bron Studios announced that actors Giovanni Ribisi (The Gift), Juno Temple (Sin City: A Dame to Kill For), Ty Simpkins (Mud), Scott Mescudi aka rapper Kid Cudi (Texas Chainsaw 3D), Mark Feurerstein (USA’s Royal Pains) and Kevin Corrigan (The Departed) had all joined the cast.

The drama centers on a couple, Sarah (Olivia Wilde) and David (Luke Wilson), dealing with the unthinkable in the wake of their son’s disappearance. As per the press release: David, a New York City policeman, attempts a more traditional form of healing, only to lose his moral compass. Sarah goes down an unexpected path towards acceptance as she places herself in increasingly dangerous situations. Elisabeth Moss (SundanceTV’s Top of the Lake) and Natasha Lyonne (Netflix’s Orange Is The New Black) also star.

No word yet on which characters the new additions will be playing, but it’s exciting to see so many talented thesps involved with this project. Meadowland‘s story seems similar to recent drama Rabbit Hole, a terrifically moving film about parents in crisis, though that’s not to say that more films grappling with the huge topic of parental grief are a bad thing in any respect. We’ll keep you posted on this intriguing project as it gets closer to hitting theaters.
