The House of Mouse is cooking up a healthy dose of madness with James Bobin’s live-action prequel Alice Through the Looking Glass, with today’s first TV spot shedding new light on Alice Kingsleigh’s (Mia Wasikowska) mind-bending journey to Underland.
Travelling through time in order to save Johnny Depp’s indelible Mad Hatter, the snippet has Wasikowska’s heroine encounter all manner of wonderful weirdness, guiding by Sacha Baron Cohen as the personification of time itself. Eagle-eyed fans will also spot the voice of the late, great Alan Rickman, who reprises his role as Absolem, the Blue Caterpillar, in what will go down as one of his final on screen performances.

Also returning for Alice Through the Looking Glass are Helena Bonhan Carter and Anne Hathaway as the Red Queen and White Queen, respectively, while the likes of Stephen Fry, Michael Sheen, Timothy Spall and Rhys Ifans cap off a truly impressive ensemble cast.
Set to grace theaters on May 27, James Bobin’s fantastical feature will offer a whimsical respite when it opens opposite Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse. Although only time – and not Sacha Baron Cohen’s version – will tell whether Alice Through the Looking Glass can meet such a tall order.
Director James Bobin brings his own unique vision to the spectacular world Tim Burton created on screen in 2010 with “Alice in Wonderland,” in which Alice (Wasikowska) returns to the whimsical world of Underland and travels back in time to save the Mad Hatter. The film, which once again features Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter and the voices of Alan Rickman, Stephen Fry, Michael Sheen and Timothy Spall, introduces several new characters as well: Zanik Hightopp (Rhys Ifans), the Mad Hatter’s father, and Time.
