Michael B. Jordan will reunite with Creed and Fruitvale Station director Ryan Coogler for Marvel’s Black Panther, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

It’s unclear exactly who Jordan will play in the 2018 standalone movie – one teased at the tail-end of Captain America: Civil War – but sources close to THR claim that the rising star is attached to a villainous role in Coogler’s superhero flick.

News of Jordan inking a deal to join the Chadwick Boseman-fronted actioner arrives only a day after we caught wind that Lupita Nyong’o (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) had opened talks with Marvel regarding a potential role. Negotiations are still ongoing for the actress, but we’ll keep you updated as that potential casting tidbit develops.

As for Black Panther‘s latest recruit, Michael B. Jordan is fast building up a piping hot streak with Ryan Coogler following the one-two punch of Fruitvale Station and last year’s stellar franchise spinoff, Creed. As this is a Marvel production, though, expect a thick veil of secrecy to shroud Coogler and Jordan’s third collaboration for some time, but it’s understood that filming is scheduled to get underway early next year.

It’s official: Michael B. Jordan is bound for Wakanda with Chadwick Boseman and, reportedly, The Force Awakens star Lupita Nyong’o. Look for Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther to prowl into theaters in time for February 2, 2018.
