Michael Fassbender Leads The Band In New Images From Frank

What do you do when you hire one of the most attractive men in movies to star in your musical comedy? Cover his face with a paper-mache head, obviously. What do you do when you hire one of the most attractive men in movies to star in your musical comedy? Cover his face with a paper-mache head, obviously. That is what happened to Michael Fassbender, who stars in the odd musical-comedy Frank and appears to spend the entire film with a big painted head.

Frank tells the story of Jon (Domhnall Gleeson), who joins the cult band Soronprfbs as a keyboardist. The band is led by Frank (Fassbender), a mysterious performer with a massive paper-mache head. The band heads off for a retreat to record their latest album, and things begin to get a little weird for poor Jon. As I have not seen the film, I don’t really know what that means, but it sounds intriguing. If Michael Fassbender’s head was not enough weirdness, this film also stars Maggie Gyllenhaal and Scoot McNairy.

Frank recently premiered at the Sundance Film Festival to some pretty strong praise, with the characters compared to those of Wes Anderson. While it saddens my girlish heart to know that I will not get to gaze on Michael Fassbender’s beautiful visage, it is also an opportunity (as if he needed any more) for Fassbender to show off his exceptional acting chops. He is not just a pretty face, after all, and it seems that the film will help to demonstrate that.

Frank belongs to Magnolia Pictures, but there is no US release date as yet. With the praise that the film has garnered, and a leading man that we can all (sort of) recognize, that is likely to change before long.

You can check out the latest pictures from Frank below and let us know what you think about them in the comments section. Will you be waiting with bated breath for the American release?
