Michael Keaton is the absolute saving grace of ‘The Flash’ Super Bowl trailer

'The Flash' won't be saved by the scarlet speedster.

DC released the official trailer for The Flash, but it isn’t the scarlet speedster that captured the fans’ attention. Out of all the characters that appeared in the trailer, Michael Keaton‘s Batman became the star of the show, for obvious reasons.

In the trailer, Ben Affleck‘s Batman warns Barry Allen (played by Ezra Miller) that going back in time to save his mother could potentially destroy the universe. Allen travels back anyway, entering a universe where “no metahumans exist” and Superman is now Supergirl. The trailer also revealed the return of Michael Keaton’s Batman, who last played the character in 1992 in Batman Returns.

Keaton’s return got fans excited since he was meant to appear in Batgirl, but was canceled by Warner Bros. last year. Fans are happy to see him back in the suit after 30 years of stepping away from the role. And based on what was seen in the trailer so far

Keaton’s reveal also caused emotional whiplash as fans were not ready for his return to the role. But not only that, he’s wearing his iconic suit from all those years ago. Fans believe that Keaton will be the one to save the film, considering that Miller was under plenty of controversies in 2022 and was recently charged with burglary back in mid-January. Not to mention, old DC fans who were not interested in the modern DCU have come out to support this film once it’s released.

The Flash has faced production delays which led to its release date being pushed. When DC announced they’re changing the DCU lineup, fans wondered why the Flash wasn’t pulled as well. DC’s newest co-chief, James Gunn revealed that The Flash will play a role in rebooting the DCU, hence why the movie is still going forward.

The Flash will be dashing its way to theaters on June 16, 2023.
