Probably best known for his fantastic portrayal of the smooth talkin’ stick-up man Omar Little in HBO’s acclaimed series The Wire, Michael Kenneth Williams is now in talks to join the upcoming RoboCop reboot from director José Padilha.

It’s heavily suggested that Williams will now be on the right side of the law and is currently in talks to play Alex Murphy/RoboCop’s sidekick, though nothing else is known about the role at this time.

Whether the actor has a big part in the upcoming reboot or not, he’s someone I always look forward to seeing on the big and small screen. His two biggest roles to date, in the aforementioned hit show The Wire and in another HBO show, Boardwalk Empire, have showcased the Williams’ talents and I’m thrilled that he’s finally getting a bit more recognition.

RoboCop is slated for an August 2013 release and Williams will be a welcome addition to an already stellar cast which includes the likes of Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson and Jackie Earle Haley.
