ORIGINAL: After taking on a memorable role in last summer’s The Purge: Anarchy, The Wire alum Michael K. Williams has entered into negotiations for parts in two other major franchise hopefuls: Ghostbusters and Assassin’s Creed.

He’ll first take on a supporting role in Paul Feig’s currently lensing blockbuster Ghostbusters, which stars Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy as two women whose belief in ghosts comes in handy when a supernatural invasion of New York City begins. Williams’ character is being kept under wraps, but his name is apparently Hawkins.

Next, the actor will join Justin Kurzel’s Assassin’s Creed, starring opposite Michael Fassbender and Maron Cotillard. This is a big role for Williams, though it’s also cloaked in secrecy – sources tease that he has a “major stake” in the franchise and will take on a co-starring role in the already-planned sequel.

Even though Williams appears to finally be on the verge of a major breakthrough in Hollywood, the Boardwalk Empire alum is still planted squarely on the small screen as well. He has a part in the IFC miniseries The Spoils Before Dying (also opposite Wiig) and will take on one of the lead roles in SundanceTV’s Hap and Leonard.
