For a time, Michelle MacLaren was attached to Warner Brothers’ upcoming Wonder Woman film, but left the project due to creative differences. Now, it’s being reported that the Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones director may have moved on to greener pastures (that grow in a galaxy far, far away).

According to TheWrap’s Jeff Sneider, MacLaren has met with Lucasfilm about the second Star Wars Anthology spinoff, which is expected to focus on the rivalry between a young Han Solo and Boba Fett. Chronicle and Fantastic Four helmer Josh Trank was originally attached to the film, but recently abandoned the project. When last we heard, Disney was courting either Jon Favreau or Matthew Vaughn to take the reins, but MacLaren’s name is an interesting and exciting addition to the equation.

This news should be taken with a massive grain of salt, however, as it’s far from an official trade report. Sneider may write for TheWrap, but he broke this rumor on his Meet The Movie Press podcast; if it were close to official, he’d have written a report about it and released it as actual news. For now, it’s nothing more than a small nugget of information and it’s very possible that nothing will come of it.

With the second Star Wars Anthology movie not slated to arrive in our galaxy until 2018, there’s still plenty of time for Disney and Lucasfilm to find a replacement for Trank, so we’ll likely be hearing more stories like this as time goes on. Until we hear something more official, let us know your thoughts about MacLaren possibly directing a Boba Fett/Han Solo movie in the comments below!
