More Deadpool 2 Concept Art Reveals A Very Different Domino

Alexander Lozano has rolled out another piece of Deadpool 2 concept art which places the focus squarely on Domino, Zazie Beetz's walking good-luck charm.

Domino was one of two high-profile additions to the Deadpool 2 ensemble (the other being Nathan Summers/Cable), and you simply can’t fault Zazie Beetz’s performance as the walking, talking good-luck charm.

Originally designed as an X-Force member, Beetz’s character is among the few shortlisted for Drew Goddard’s mooted team-up movie (providing it moves forward), though our latest Deadpool 2 tidbit isn’t so much concerned with the future of Domino as it is with the past – specifically, Tim Miller’s initial pitch for the comic book sequel, which seemingly included a totally different take on the muscle-bound Juggernaut.

And that’s not all; as revealed by concept artist Alexander Lozano (h/t ComicBook.com), the Powers That Be originally wanted a hooded costume for Domino replete with heavy-duty firepower that wouldn’t look out of place in the video game series Metal Gear Solid. Sniper Wolf, is that you?

This is evidently lifted from early on in the Deadpool 2 creative process – long before Zazie Beetz clinched the role. She beat out a number of high-profile stars for the coveted gig, though Deadpool scribe Rob Liefeld very much believes that Beetz was perfect for the part, as she embodied all of the sass and swagger necessary to bring Neena Thurman to life.

Domino is all about – as an actress and as the character that is going to be on the screen – the sass. You got to understand, your gonna go up against Wade Wilson. I’m telling you, having been around Ryan multiple times, that mouth cannot be stopped. I don’t think he can say the jokes as fast as they are backed up in his head. Some of these people were like ‘Oh hey, this girl should have been Domino,’ and pick out actress from A through Z. And I’d be like ‘I’m not sure that they can keep up with him.’

If you’re wanting to see even more of Deadpool 2, you’ll be pleased to note that the Super Duper Cut, one which packs 15 minutes of extra footage and alternate gags, is now available on digital. Meanwhile, those holding out for the Blu-ray and/or DVD can place a big red circle around August 21st on their respective calendars.
