It might not have had the box office haul that DC had no doubt hoped for, but Zack Snyder’s Justice League still has its fans out there, and they’re sure to enjoy this mostly unseen gallery of images spotlighting their favourite superheroes. This collection, featuring never-before-seen promotional material, official stills and behind the scenes photos sheds new light on the supergroup, giving those who liked the pic the chance to see more from it.
Despite their latest stumble, DC has still been busy, dropping the first poster for Shazam! and scheduling a production start date for Wonder Woman 2, the hotly-anticipated sequel to arguably the only successful DCEU film to be released thus far. That might be difficult to digest for enthusiasts, but the truth is often hard to stomach.
Because, let’s face it, in the realm of cape-driven blockbusters, the company hasn’t had a bonafide winner since Christopher Nolan concluded his Dark Knight trilogy. Wonder Woman was a step in the right direction, sure, but the comic book titan failed to build on the film’s momentum and are, for all intents and purposes, back to square one now. With Marvel set to drop its masterpiece next month in the form of Avengers: Infinity War, the DCEU might have to sit back and wait in the shadows a while longer before it can grab the spotlight again.
Next up, of course, is the Jason Momoa-led Aquaman, a film that’s garnered much early praise during its test screenings. Without question, the Atlantean was a high point in Justice League, which didn’t boast many things to brag about. It would appear that his upcoming solo movie, scheduled for a December 21st release, has a legitimate shot at a Wonder Woman-type level of success, then. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned from the DCEU, it’s to keep expectations tempered.
