Justice League is a hulking monster of a film.
At last month’s San Diego Comic-Con, Warner Bros. and DC arrived at Hall H guns blazing to unveil a four-minute preview of Zack Snyder and Joss Whedon’s ensemble movie, and ardent comic book fans have been pouring over each and every frame of that trailer ever since.
From the sweeping shots of Steppenwolf’s army to the quieter, more intimate exchanges between Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) and her co-workers, the sizzle reel in question held nothing back, though when you consider that Joss Whedon and his team are in the process of capturing extensive reshoots, one would assume that there will still be plenty of new footage to gawk at when Justice League lights up theaters in November.
Until that day arrives, though, the Powers That Be at Warner have rolled out the next best thing: a truncated, two-minute edition of that aforementioned trailer that contains a sliver of new footage, along with never-before-head dialogue from Ben Affleck’s brooding Caped Crusader. “This is crazy. Fighting the devil and his army…in hell.”
On November 17th, Warner Bros. unites DC’s finest heroes – namely Wonder Woman, Cyborg, The Flash, Aquaman, Superman and Ben Affleck’s Dark Knight – to go up against the invading Steppenwolf. Story-wise, we know that marauding entity will be hoping to retrieve all three Mother Boxes and return them to Darkseid, the mega-villain that has loomed over Warner’s DCEU for years.
Will the almighty deity be introduced through a Justice League sequel? We’ll find out in due course. On the topic of JL itself, do you believe the Zack Snyder/Joss Whedon blockbuster is destined to emulate the success of Wonder Woman? Or are you of the belief that Warner’s long-brewing crossover will fall prey to the same pitfalls that affected Batman V Superman and Suicide Squad? Do let us know.
