Despite an unfinished version leaking online a couple of months ago, there’s still no sign of the first trailer for The Dark Tower. Now, with the movie’s release date pushed back from February to July, we probably still have a little while to wait, but a new promo poster has surfaced today which should keep us going in the meantime.

Featuring a fresh look at Roland Deschain (Idris Elba) and Jake Chambers (Tom Taylor), it’s adorned with a saying which will be instantly familiar to fans of Stephen King’s series of novels. Of course, that doesn’t mean we’re getting a faithful adaptation here. In fact, it’s already been confirmed that we’re not getting a direct adaptation of The Dark Tower; instead, the movie looks set to serve as a sequel of sorts to the final novel as we follow The Gunslinger on his last journey to the powerful location that the movie is named after.

The studio is clearly confident in its chances of success though, as a small screen spinoff – revolving around a younger Roland – is already in the works. That will see Elba and Taylor appear in bookend sequences to kick the story off, and assuming The Dark Tower succeeds at the box office, it’s a franchise which we’ll be spending a lot of time with over the next few years.

For now, check out the cool new poster below and let us know in the comments section whether you’re looking forward to this one or not.
