New Set Photos For Captain America: Civil War Feature The First Avenger And Frank Grillo’s Crossbones

Such is the scale of Marvel's standalone films now that it's almost inevitable that each feature will attract significant attention during production, and it's no different for Joe and Anthony Russo's much-anticipated Captain America: Civil War. Late last week, we were given our first look at Frank Grillo as the menacing and physically robust Crossbones, and a slew of new set photos showcase the villain going toe-to-toe with Chris Evans' First Avenger.

Such is the scale of Marvel’s standalone films now that it’s almost inevitable that each feature will attract significant attention during production, and it’s no different for Joe and Anthony Russo’s much-anticipated Captain America: Civil War. Late last week, we were given our first look at Frank Grillo as the menacing and physically robust Crossbones, and a slew of new set photos showcase the villain going toe-to-toe with Chris Evans’ First Avenger.

Much like those from a few days ago, Anthony Mackie’s Falcon can also be glimpsed amongst the action, which sees the friends engage with Crossbones and his squad of goons in what appears to be an African marketplace. Could this potentially seed the introduction of one Black Panther?

Essentially acting as Avengers 2.5, there’s a lot riding on Civil War as Marvel shifts gears into Phase Three. With an ever-expanding ensemble that includes Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, Martin Freeman and the long-awaited debut of Spider-Man, said to be played by Enders Game‘s Asa Butterfield, there’s certainly a lot to get excited for here.

Captain America: Civil War is due to open on May 6th, 2016.

Directed by Anthony & Joe Russo from a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely, Captain America: Civil War picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain. Starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Chadwick Boseman, Emily VanCamp, Daniel Brühl, Frank Grillo, William Hurt, and Martin Freeman, Captain America: Civil War is set for release on May 6, 2016
