We’re going to see Ben Affleck once again suited up as Batman in Suicide Squad next month, but that won’t be the last time the actor is shown kicking butt on the big screen this year. He’ll soon be seen in The Accountant, but the film will have him playing a very different type of hero.
Directed by Warrior and Jane Got A Gun helmer Gavin O’Connor, the movie features the Justice League star as a mild mannered accountant who freelances as an assassin. For further details on what to expect from The Accountant, here’s the official synopsis:
Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck) is a math savant with more affinity for numbers than people. Behind the cover of a small-town CPA office, he works as a freelance accountant for some of the world’s most dangerous criminal organizations. With the Treasury Department’s Crime Enforcement Division, run by Ray King (J.K. Simmons), starting to close in, Christian takes on a legitimate client: a state-of- the- art robotics company where an accounting clerk (Anna Kendrick) has discovered a discrepancy involving millions of dollars. But as Christian uncooks the books and gets closer to the truth, it is the body count that starts to rise.
The impressive cast is rounded out by names like Jon Bernthal, Jeffrey Tambor and John Lithgow, and while it’s too early to say if this could be an awards contender or just a very strong thriller, there are definitely a lot of reasons to be excited about it.
The Accountant is set to be released in October in the US and during the following month in the UK.
