The cast of Deadpool continues to expand today as yet another new addition joins the ranks of Tim Miller’s feature spinoff. One of the X-Universe’s lesser-known mutants, Negasonic Teenage Warhead is now confirmed to appear, with newcomer Brianna Hildebrand set to bring the iconoclastic teen to life.
The character, real name Ellie Phimister, was originally created by Grant Morrison during his stint on New X-Men and harnessed the power of telepathy along with a slew of precognitive abilities. She was promptly killed off by Morrison and later resurrected by Joss Whedon for Amazing X-Men as a telepathic projection of Emma Frost… who was then murdered by Cyclops.
As reported by THR, Hildebrand is now locked down for the part, which will shift several of Negasonic’s key attributes in the transition to the big screen. Besides her mental abilities, she looks to be destined for a great deal of physical assertion as the trade reveals that the actress is “undergoing physical and stunt training for her part.”
Moving away from casting for a moment and venturing into classification, leading man Reynolds – who reprises his role as the Merc With A Mouth – has addressed the issue of Deadpool’s rating. Again. The matter continues to warrant discussion, as Reynolds believes the film’s low-budget will afford them the creative freedom Deadpool deserves. This boils down to the fact that the adventures of Wade Wilson in the comics would require an R-rating in order to do them justice, a topic the actor addressed again via Twitter:
“@DPklok051: Is it going to be rated R or PG-13?” I want #Deadpool to be R. Always have. Fighting the good fight still. Lotta yelling today.

Deadpool opens in theaters on February 12, 2016. Morena Baccarin, Gina Carano, Ed Skrein and T.J. Miller co-star.
Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
