No, the Russo brothers haven’t thrown shade on ‘The Flash,’ but they’re about the only ones

Audiences seem to be in agreement on 'The Flash.'

In a classic case of mistaken identity, fans briefly believed veteran MCU director Joe Russo seized the opportunity to fire a few shots at The Flash.

DC’s most recent attempt to pull in an audience is on course to crash and burn with a shameful performance at the box office, and James Gunn fans, Zack Snyder fans, MCU fans, and DC fans are all joining hands to collectively dunk on The Flash. It’s a story we’ve heard one too many times now, and to be frank it’s a relief to know that this will mark the final breath of a long dead franchise.

Some harsh words coming from a pretty unexpected voice did catch a few fans off guard, however, after a Mr. Joe Russo didn’t miss the opportunity on Twitter to poke some fun at both The Flash and the new regime at DC.

“Maaaaybe announcing an entirely new creative direction before releasing the last of the previous regime’s movies was a mistake…”

That’s pretty harsh, and not particularly nice coming from someone in the industry themselves, and it’s also pretty rich coming from one half of the duo who gave us The Gray Man. Of course, if it’s not immediately obvious, it wasn’t actually that Joe Russo — despite many fans thinking it was. This Joe is also in the movie industry, however, writing, producing and sometimes directing mostly horror films. Could this man be an alternate universe variant of Marvel’s Joe?

One Snyderverse fan shared the tweet, welcoming who they believed to be the Marvel director to the club.

“The Russos clowning on Gunn and the Flash is unexpected but very welcome. Welcome to the club. #RestoreTheSnyderVerse”

Now that we know it’s not Marvel’s Joe Russo we have to know — is the invitation still open?

The comments underneath the tweet consist of two groups: fans who have mistaken this Joe for the other Joe and fans that are educating the first group on the two Joes. After all, just because he isn’t the person everybody thought he was doesn’t mean he’s any less right. Plenty of people agree that the movie has been a big let down, as all over social media people express their disappointment with the film, criticizing everything from its messy plot to the awful CGI. Is there anything this film did right?

“Stay safe out there everyone.. I had 2  tickets for the flash movie in my car and someone broke in and left 4 more.”

It’s been agreed upon, pretty unanimously, that this film blows; whilst Marvel’s Joe Russo hasn’t said anything bad about the Flash — unlike his horror variant — there’s definitely a good chance he’s thinking it too.
