Darren Aronofsky‘s passion project Noah hasn’t had the easiest time getting off the ground. Aside from taking a while to receive a green light, the film had to deal with loosing its first two leads, Christian Bale and Michael Fassbender. Eventually though, things picked up and Russell Crowe signed on to star. Now that production is starting to gain some steam, Paramount has set a release date for March 28th, 2014.
March is an odd time to release a film like this. It’s not being set up for Awards season nor is it being thrown into the summer blockbuster mix, which begs the question of what is Paramount’s angle with the film?
In other Noah news, Aronofsky’s Requiem For A Dream star Jennifer Connelly has begun negotiating a deal to star as the film’s female lead. The report comes from The Tracking Board and if the actress signs on, she’ll be reuniting with Russell Crowe, who she worked with on A Beautiful Mind.
That’s not all though, The Film Stage is also reporting that the studio is interested in Hanna star Saoirse Ronan for an undisclosed supporting role. Neither Connelly or Ronan are confirmed but they are both in talks and will likely sign on.
Pre-production production and principal photography starts in July so you can expect more updates in the near future. As always, we’ll keep you posted.
