For the most part, and despite Tom Holland’s best efforts to seemingly spoil everything, Phase 4 of the MCU remains pretty mysterious.
Sure, we know that Spider-Man: Far From Home will act as a post-Endgame epilogue to Phase 3, as it’ll see Peter Parker (and Mysterio!) dealing with the ramifications of Thanos’ snap, but beyond that, Kevin Feige and his team refuse to be drawn about what comes next. And long may that continue, as they’ve surely got a lot of surprises in store for us and there’s no fun in having everything spoiled beforehand.
This being the MCU, though, there are always going to be leaks and rumors and the latest comes to us by way of a trusted tipster over on Reddit. Among other things, they’re confirming earlier reports that Norman Osborn has been earmarked as the MCU’s next big bad, which makes sense as it’d help to ensure that Phase 4 stays grounded in a post-Endgame world.
But what’s interesting is that this leak claims Osborn will only be one of two big bads coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with the cosmic big bad being introduced in Captain Marvel 2. But as for Norman, this new intel says Marvel wants to make him into a true threat for the remaining heroes and we’ll see him use his “political and economical power to exude control over people.”
Not only that, but apparently his arc will “pull heavily from the Dark Reign comics and his run with the Thunderbolts,” and that we’ll likely see him suit up as the Green Goblin at some point as well. Though it doesn’t sound like that’ll be a big part of his character. Rather, it seems like Marvel wants to keep him more grounded.
As for when we’ll meet Mr. Osborn, well, Far From Home will apparently introduce him but it won’t give us a proper look at the character. Details remain hazy, but we imagine we may just hear his voice, or see him in the shadows or as a silhouette. It’s speculated that casting could be revealed at Comic-Con, but again, things are still a bit unclear.
In any case, it seems Norman Osborn is about to play a major role in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and if you have any ideas for who could bring him to life, be sure to let us know down below.
