Dreamworks is accumulating a terrific cast for its upcoming ensemble comedy Office Christmas Party. As the title implies, the film revolves around one of the most joyous times of the year. No, not December 25 – the obligatory office party beforehand. Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman signed on to topline the movie back when it was first announced, so we can assume that they’ll be playing a couple of co-workers who, I don’t know, find love at Christmas?
We don’t know officially, of course, that’s just an educated guess. But we do know who’s set to join them for this festive frolic: Deadpool‘s T.J. Miller, Ghostbusters‘ Kate McKinnon, and The Interview‘s Randall Park.
A fresh report from Variety confirms another name now set to join them – Olivia Munn is currently ironing out details to appear alongside that starry cast. Personally, I’m excited as hell to see Munn return to an office environment. She practically stole the show as The Newsroom‘s financial whiz Sloan Sabbith, thanks to her wicked wit and deadpan timing. Who she’s playing in Dreamworks’ comedy remains to be seen, but, as it’s about “a group of coworkers during an office party gone awry,” we can but hope to see more of her comedy genius.
There’s no doubt producers are pleased that the film is attracting such attention, as it’s taken a while to get to this stage. The movie entered development several years ago, based on enthusiastic responses to a script most recently tinkered with by Lee Eisenberg, Gene Stupnitsky and Laura Solon. However, it wasn’t until Blades of Glory directors Will Speck and Josh Gordon signed on to helm the holiday flick that the wheels were set in motion.
Office Christmas Party enters production this spring and is set to open in the US on December 9, 2016.
