Not to be confused with Sandra Bullock’s political drama Our Brand is Crisis, a new poster has emerged for Susanna White’s soon-to-be-released espionage thriller, Our Kind of Traitor.
Introducing the starry ensemble, the stylish one-sheet features Ewan McGregor and Naomie Harris’ quiet and unassuming English couple, MI6 agent Hector (Damian Lewis) and, finally, Stellan Skarsgård’s scheming Russian mobster, Dima.
Shot across Finland, Bern, Paris, the French Alps and Marrakech, Our Kind of Traitor is based on the novel of the same name by John le Carré. At the core of the story are Perry (McGregor) and Gail (Naomie Harris) as lovestruck English couple. Pulled into an international crime caper while holidaying in Europe, the pair strike up a rapport with the wrong people, ultimately leaving their fate in the hands of Lewis’ trained secret agent. But can they escape the tug of the criminal underworld?
Another John le Carré film currently making waves on the small screen is The Night Manager – starring Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie and Olivia Colman – Susanna White’s big-screen rendition of Our Brand is Traitor will arrive in theaters come May 13 in the United Kingdom. The jury’s still out on a US release date, though we’ll keep you posted should more information come to light.
While on holiday in Marrakech, an ordinary English couple, Perry (Ewan McGregor – The Impossible, The Ghost) and Gail (Naomie Harris – Spectre, Southpaw), befriend a flamboyant and charismatic Russian, Dima (Stellan Skarsgård – Avengers: Age of Ultron, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo), who unbeknownst to them is a kingpin money launderer for the Russian mafia.
When Dima asks for their help to deliver classified information to the British Secret Services, Perry and Gail get caught in a dangerous world of international espionage and dirty politics. The couple is propelled on a perilous journey through Paris and Bern, a safe house in the French Alps, to the murky corners of the City of London and an alliance with the British Government via a ruthless and determined MI6 agent (Damian Lewis – Homeland).
