While Chris Pine’s return as the allegedly deceased Steve Trevor in next year’s Wonder Woman 1984 certainly raises a few questions, the upcoming DCEU pic has also created a little mystery around the casting of Pedro Pascal. The Chilean-American actor, known for Game of Thrones and Narcos, is set to play a prominent but currently undisclosed role in the much anticipated sequel, and naturally the fans have their theories.
Twitter user Daniel R – who has a history of releasing information on DC movies – now stokes the flames of speculation with his latest Tweet, which reads:
I hear Pedro Pascal’s character is a God in disguise.
Though impossible to confirm yet, this is hardly the most out-there of notions seeing how Sir Patrick Morgan turned out to be just that in the previous film.
Perhaps hoping to kill two birds with one stone, another user promptly responded with the suggestion that this god’s chosen disguise could be Steve Trevor, which would explain his unexpected reappearance. Daniel, however, was quick to shoot down this theory, stating:
Nope. That’s the real Steve Trevor.
Given that 1984 already has its main villain in the form of Cheetah, played by Kristen Wiig, it’s likely that Pascal’s character would play a very different role in the action from the hidden god of the first movie, perhaps even serving as a guiding presence for the title character.
Of course, these are still very early days for the production and official information remains a little thin. Lately, though, we’ve been treated to the first image of Gal Gadot in full Wonder Woman outfit, along with a few set photos from Georgetown, Washington, redesigned to match the year of the title. But as far as how this is going to play out story-wise, it’s all pretty much up in the air right now.
While there’s still plenty of time to speculate, our questions will all be answered when Wonder Woman 1984 arrives in theaters on November 1st, 2019.
