Peter Meets Mysterio In First Spider-Man: Far From Home Clip

Peter Parker meets Jake Gyllenhaal's Mysterio in this first clip from Spider-Man: Far From Home, which swings into theaters in July.

While Spider-Man: Far From Home is set to be the final entry in Marvel’s Phase 3, it’ll also act as the beginning of a new era for the MCU, given that Avengers: Endgame has brought the Infinity Saga to a close.

In that sense, the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel may end up being crucial in helping us to understand just how the Marvel universe has changed in the wake of what we saw in the aforementioned Endgame. And if that recent trailer is any indication of what’s to come, things are about to get real complicated.

Yes, the latest Far From Home preview teased the Marvel Multiverse, a concept that’s a bit hard to wrap your head around but one that’ll surely give the studio some exciting new avenues to explore. But just in case your mind wasn’t spinning enough already, we’ve now got a new clip from the sequel which dives into the whole multiple realities thing a bit further, with Mysterio telling Peter that the Earth he lives on is known as Earth Dimension 616.

“There are multiple realities, Peter. This is Earth Dimension 616, I’m from Earth 833. We share identical physical constants, level four symmetry,” says Gyllenhaal’s character in the footage up above.

Again, it’s not the most digestible concept to grasp, but we’re sure Marvel’s found a palatable way to serve it up in Far From Home. And besides, we imagine that it’ll only be the seeds for the Multiverse that are planted here, as the film still as its own story to tell, with Spidey setting off to Europe for a little vacation.

Joining the wall-crawler on his trip will be his best friend Ned, played by Jacob Batalon, and Zendaya reprising her role as Michelle “MJ” Jones, who now knows Peter’s little secret, which should make things interesting..

What else may lie ahead fo Tom Holland’s web-slinger remains to be seen, but after Avengers: Endgame brought about some massive changes to the cinematic universe, it’ll be fascinating to see how Peter and his friends cope with the consequences when Spider-Man: Far From Home hits cinemas on July 2nd.
