Despite multiple problems that included a bloated budget, wind storms, injuries and a drowning, Gore Verbinski’s The Lone Ranger has finally wrapped filming. It’s been a long road to get there, but now, at last, they can begin post-production for its intended summer release.
However, thanks to The Playlist, we don’t even have to wait to get a sneak peak of the film as today Disney has released several photos that include multiple shots of Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer.
The film certainly looks like it could be quite epic, but at this point, it’s far too early to tell if it will be any good. Verbinski himself describes it as follows:
It’s a dysfunctional buddy movie. It’s two guys who start literally and figuratively handcuffed together who end up on the same mission with completely different world views. They sort of rub off on one another. But they have plenty of disagreements.
We all know Depp has played some eccentric characters before, but when asked about his character of Tonto, he simply said “I’m a long way from Jack Sparrow,” with Verbinski adding that he “is an odd-shaman, an outcast from his own tribe, who has created his own mystical world.”
Hopefully everything will turn out well for the film in the end. We’ll just have to wait for The Lone Ranger to hit theaters on July 3rd, 2013 to find out.
