Clearly, this isn’t the greatest poster ever made. The one sheet for David Cronenberg‘s A Dangerous Method is just the busts of the three lead actors, on a grey background, with the film’s title underneath, but that’s okay. The lead actors, Viggo Mortensen, Keira Knightley, and Michael Fassbender, are so attractive that the poster is pretty appealing anyway.
Plus, who really needs more incentive to see this film? David Cronenberg – the man who made The Fly – is directing, the already mentioned, handsome cast is quite a talented ensemble, and the subject matter is titillating. Fassbender plays psychologist Carl Jung, whose controversial relationship with one of his patients, Sabina Spielrein (Knightley), causes a speed-bump in his bromance with Sigmund Freud (Mortensen), leading to breakthroughs in pyschoanalysis.
If I learned anything in Psych 101, it’s that Freud was one crazy dude who had some really farfetched ideas. Assuming Jung is on the same page, this film should be pretty saucy. Michael Fassbender has been building up a solid resume, and maybe leading such a risque film could be his first opportunity for serious awards recognition.
This poster may be awful, but it’s still enough to remind me about my excitement for A Dangerous Method. Check it out below, courtesy of The Playlist. Who else is ready to see this Oscar-fest?
