Preview footage has surfaced online for The Iceman, a film that hasn’t even gone into production yet. The footage includes actors Michael Shannon and Michael Wincott. Shannon plays Richard “The Iceman” Leonard, a famous mobster from the NYC/NJ area. The preview footage is very brooding and creepy thanks to the unsettling music and the cold performance by Shannon.
If the purpose of the clip was solely to get buzz going on the film then it worked because I’m very interested in seeing more. Michael Shannon is a great actor that deserves a leading role like this and I really think The Iceman could help elevate him as a star.
The Iceman also features James Franco and Benicio Del Toro.
There is no official word on when the film will go into production, but we’ll keep you posted with information as it comes our way.
Check out the scene below, followed by a brief summary.
The true story of mob killer Richard Kuklinski. Kuklinski claimed to have murdered over 200 men during a murder spree that lasted over 30 years. Kuklinski was given the nickname “Iceman” because of his tendency to put corpses in an industrial freezer to disguise the time of death. Kuklinski spent 20 years in jail before dying in 2006 of natural causes.
