While out promoting his new film The Counselor, which is apparently quite the letdown, Ridley Scott confirmed that the sequel to Prometheus, tentatively titled Prometheus 2, is still in development and the script is currently being written. Of course, the director wouldn’t reveal anything else but at the very least, it’s good to know that he still intends on making the film.
Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, Damon Lindelof will not be penning the sequel. Instead, Transcendence scribe Jack Paglen will be taking on writing duties, or at least, that’s the last we heard. Maybe another writer has come on board by this point?
Though it divided critics and audiences right down the middle, I enjoyed Prometheus quite a bit and despite its flaws and massive plot holes, I’m looking forward to seeing where they take the story for the sequel. There’s a million different directions that they can go in and with a tighter script, I think Prometheus 2 could really turn out well. Scott has created a great universe here and I’m curious to see how he further explores it.
Though plot details haven’t been revealed just yet, we do know that the story will follow Dr. Shaw as she heads to the home world of the Engineers, which will offer up a whole bunch of exciting paths for the story to take.
As always, we’ll be sure to keep you posted on any and all Prometheus 2 details that may emerge. For now though, tell us, is this a sequel that you’re looking forward to?
