Leave it to DreamWorks to make a spinoff of the Puss in Boots character from the Shrek series. Since the green ogre has left the silver screen, Dreamworks feels that making spinoff films of all the characters is necessary. It won’t be long until Donkey gets his own film and on that day, I will cry inside.
Despite the overall sense mediocrity that this trailer gives off, one positive thing I can say about Puss in Boots is that I actually chuckled a few times while watching the trailer. I didn’t burst out into laughter, but I also didn’t hate what I saw. It was a hell of a lot better than the new Pixar trailer for Planes. That trailer was just horrible whereas Puss looks like it could be some mindless fun or a simple holiday flick for the family.
The main problem I started to have with the Shrek series was the way it started to handle itself towards the end. The first few films were funny, but the last few just got down right stupid. Puss in Boots looks like it might be holding back on being a completely idiotic film and I respect that. I’m all for a silly movie, but just don’t insult my intelligence.
Puss in Boots stars Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, Zach Galifianakis, Billy Bob Thornton and Amy Sedaris. It will be opening on November 4th, 2011 in 3D and IMAX.
Puss In Boots – one of the most beloved characters of the Shrek universe – tells the hilarious and courageous (daring, bold, brave) tale of Puss’s (Antonio Banderas) early adventures as he teams with mastermind Humpty Dumpty (Zach Galifianakis) and the street-savvy Kitty (Salma Hayek) to steal the famed Goose that lays the Golden Eggs.
