Rambo V: Last Blood Sets September Release Date

Though Sylvester Stallone has already shared a generous amount of set material from the upcoming Rambo V: Last Blood, the cowriter and star of John Rambo's fifth and purportedly final outing hasn't been so quick to announce a release date. Nonetheless, it seems that Lionsgate is finally ready to let us know that Adrian Grunberg's action film is headed for theaters on September 20th, 2019.

Though Sylvester Stallone has already shared a generous number of set photos from the upcoming Rambo V: Last Blood, the cowriter and star of John Rambo’s fifth and purportedly final outing hasn’t been so quick to announce a release date. But after a surprisingly long wait, it seems that Lionsgate is finally ready to let us know that the Adrian Grunberg-helmed action film is headed for theaters on September 20th, 2019.

This means we still have almost seven months to go until the decades-spanning series releases its first installment since 2008’s Rambo. In the meantime, you can expect Stallone’s Instagram to remain a consistent source of material from the movie. As stated by the man himself last month, the star is currently in the process of releasing a series of black-and-white set pics that will allow audiences to follow along with the story, and so far, the images suggest that Last Blood will have a real western feel to it, as Rambo rides horseback through rural Arizona.

As for plot, a summary released by Splash Report last November offered a pretty thorough breakdown of the story to come. If what we’ve read is true, then John will be returning to the fray when the young Gabrielle, played by Yvette Monreal, is kidnapped by a Mexican cartel for their sex trafficking ring. In his efforts to her track down, Rambo will get help from a reporter named Carmen Delgado, played by Paz Vega. On villain duties, meanwhile, is Sergio Peris-Mencheta, who plays the violent cartel leader Hugo Martinez.

It’s been a long time since John Rambo last made his way to screens, but we’ll find out if the series still has some life left in it when Rambo V: Last Blood arrives in theaters this September.
