It’s no secret that Jared Leto’s Clown Prince of Crime, a character who had amassed a staggering amount of hype and excitement going into the August release, was fairly underserved in Suicide Squad, with much of the Joker said to be relegated to deleted scenes as David Ayer’s vision for Task Force X was nipped and tucked.
Reports of Leto’s at times bonkers method acting only lumped fuel on that fire, although if you’re holding out hope that we’ll see that garish, bat-shit insane smile light up the big screen in 2017, think again – contrary to previous rumors, it looks like there’s no part for the Joker in next year’s Justice League, cameo or not.
[zergpaid]Cutting through frenzied speculation, reporter and all-round industry sleuth Umberto Gonzalez took to Twitter to cool those rumors of Joker making a cameo opposite DC’s finest heroes.

Ardent fans may be disappointed to note that Jared Leto’s Clown Prince of Crime will be left on the sidelines for the foreseeable future, but Justice League is already shaping up to be a fairly crowded affair as is, and Zack Snyder will surely be aiming for a more streamlined, coherent blockbuster following Batman V Superman‘s critical drumming.
Speaking of which, Amy Adams recently claimed that Justice League is shaping up to be a “totally different film” to Dawn of Justice, and considering the ways in which those behind the scenes have reshuffled the deck, it’s not too difficult to see why. We’ll find out whether that strategy was a success when Snyder’s ensemble piece looms over theaters on November 17, 2017.
