Marvel Studios has already found the actress to play Carol Danvers for Captain Marvel, according to the Internet sleuths at Latino Review.
The rumor first appeared earlier today through Umberto Gonzalez’s Instagram, and though he warned to take the following tidbits with a grain of salt, Gonzalez believes that the film studio is gearing up to reveal who will don the famous guise in the MCU and, perhaps more enticingly, when we will first see Captain Marvel’s debut.
Be warned, though, as Gonzalez’s breakdown delves into some spoilers regarding the intricate nature of Marvel’s cinematic universe, so if you want to remain relatively fresh, we’d advise you to avert your eyes.
Still with us? Great! As we alluded to earlier, this report suggests that Marvel has already locked the part down, and that the studio plans to introduce Danvers to the audience through a cameo appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron. While this aligns with what James Gunn had to shared about Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and how the space-faring sequel won’t feature a cameo from Captain Marvel herself, it does appear unlikely. Even still, if Age of Ultron does contain an easter egg relating to Danvers, you have to commend Marvel for keeping it under wraps for so long.
Apparently, from what I’m being told, the rumor is that the studio has cast the role of Carol Danvers & keeping it top secret. I’m also being told we will first see her in #AVENGERS #AgeofUltron as originally written in previous drafts of the screenplay. In terms of the standalone film, the Marvel brain trust has blocked out the plot & story with the intention of bringing an established writer to write the script.
Comic writer Kelly Sue DeConnick wanted to take a crack at writing the screenplay but I’m not sure if she got the gig. Also, I’m told legendary comic writer Jim Starlin, who has a rich history with Captain Marvel is aboard the project as a consultant. All of the above is #UNCONFIRMED so take with grain of salt until further notice but it’s within the realm of plausibility.
In the wake of Sony’s partnership with Marvel over Spider-Man, Captain Marvel will now swoop into theaters on November 2, 2018.
