In the classic 60s series, which ran for two seasons from 1964-6, the Munsters clan famously lived in a gothic mansion situated at 1313 Mockingbird Lane. With production on the reboot gearing up to start shooting in Budapest, Zombie has revealed the blueprints for his recreation of the Munsters mansion – and it’s clear that he doesn’t want to change a thing about it.

“The blueprints are done! Time to start the construction,” Zombie wrote in his caption to the image, which you can find in the gallery below. “Get ready for the most perfect Munster house since 1964. I want this thing exact.”

Zombie has brought on several of his frequent collaborators for this reboot. His wife and leading lady Sheri Moon Zombie is playing vampire matriarch Lily, with Jeff Daniel Phillips as Frankenstein-like man of the house Herman. Richard Brake, Daniel Roebuck, Jorge Garcia and Cassandra “Elvira” Peterson are also in the cast. Zombie has previously promised fans that many supporting characters from the sitcom will appear in the reboot alongside the central clan.

A relaunch of The Munsters IP was last attempted with 2012’s comedy-drama Mockingbird Lane, from Hannibal‘s Bryan Fuller, which failed to be picked up to series. Seth Meyers was also working on a new sitcom version in 2017 but that never materialized. Zombie’s R-rated reimagining, meanwhile, is expected to have a simultaneous release in theaters and on Peacock when it eventually arrives.
