The recent trailer for next year’s Avengers: Endgame may have shown Tony Stark stranded in the middle of space in a ship that looks to be going nowhere fast, but once he gets out of this gloomy predicament, he’ll apparently be getting behind the wheel of a very different kind of ride.
Last week, it was reported that the new Audi e-tron GT concept will feature in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War sequel, with the popular prediction being that Robert Downey Jr. will be the one driving it. Sure enough, the actor stars in a new promo for the vehicle, which sees him meet up with Audi Head of Design Marc Lichte to discuss the product. And while Marvel fans may not get a whole lot out of the video unless they also happen to be big on fancy cars, there is a slightly tongue-in-cheek moment near the promo’s end where Downey turns directly to the camera to say that he’ll be driving the vehicle “in Avengers 4, out in theaters spring 2019.”
Another thing Downey mentions is the ongoing “love affair” between Marvel and Audi, and sure enough, both companies have been in collaboration since the start of the MCU, with Stark driving an Audi R8 in 2008’s Iron Man, followed by an R8 Spyder in Iron Man 2, and an R8 E-Tron in Iron Man 3.
With the fans predicting Avengers: Endgame as Downey’s last film in the franchise, it looks like Audi may well be present for Tony’s grand finale, too. But from an MCU perspective, there’ll be much bigger matters to address than what ride Iron Man is driving when the film hits theaters on April 26th, 2019.
