Rose Byrne has stepped into the role left vacated by Greta Gerwig in the upcoming film The Place Beyond The Pines. Gerwig, who never officially signed onto the film but was long linked to it, had to leave, due to her obligations promoting Arthur in some international territories. She is also filming Woody Allen‘s Bop Decameron, and then is headed to Venice to walk the red carpet for Whit Stillman‘s movie Damsels In Distress.
Indiewire is reporting that Byrne will join fellow actors Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper, Eva Mendes and Ray Liotta in The Place Beyond The Pines. The film, which will reunite Gosling with his Blue Valentine director Derek Cianfrance, follows the actor’s character Luke, a motorcycle stunt rider who robs banks to support his son. He ends up crossing paths with a police officer-turned-politician, played by Cooper, which starts a feud that will also involve their sons. Byrne is set to play Cooper’s wife.
Byrne is a great addition to the cast, as she has proved her acting abilities this year in such diverse films as Bridesmaids, Insidious and X-Men: First Class. She’ll likely bring a lot to the role and will act as a suitable replacement for Gerwig.
