Are magicians about to be the new go-to trend in Hollywood?
Just weeks after the announcement that Harry Potter producer David Heyman is gearing up to helm a film adaptation of The Night Circus, a 19-century set story of star-crossed magically-inclined lovers, it seems that Summit Entertainment (the house that Twilight built) are in talks with actors Mark Ruffalo and Amanda Seyfried to star in a film about illusionist bank robbers.
The film, titled Now You See Me, follows an FBI agent as he tries to nab a team of the world’s premiere illusionists who manage to rob banks during their performances and distribute part of the earnings amongst their audience members.
Seyfried would play the architect of the various machines that support the team’s heists, while Ruffalo would play the Fed hot on their trail. They would join already signed cast members Jesse Eisenberg and Melanie Laurent.
Also on board is director Louis Letterier who helmed The Incredible Hulk, a role that Ruffalo is set to take over in next summer’s The Avengers. The screenplay is by Boaz Yakin (Prince of Persia: The Sand of Time) and newcomer Edward Ricourt and Hollywood power duo Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will be producing.
