Rumor: Guy Ritchie May Direct A Captain Britain Movie For Marvel

Though fans are desperate to know what's coming next, Marvel Studios is keeping a tight hold on what films they have planned for Phase Four of the MCU. A few potential projects have been discussed, though, such as Eternals, Nova and Young Avengers. Now, though, we might just know of another: a solo movie for the UK's own superhero, Captain Britain.

Ain’t It Cool News has reported that they’ve been contacted by a source known as “Super Grip,” allegedly a British film crew member who’s leaked to the site that Marvel has booked Pinewood Studios in London later this year to shoot Captain Britain and the Black Knight, directed by none other than Guy Ritchie. According the source, Marvel have seized on the gap in Pinewood’s schedule left by the Bond 25 debacle.

Here’s the “leak” in full:

“I work at various movie studios in the UK and have been situated at Pinewood for a few weeks, and I’m moving to Cardiff on a project soon. I haven’t seen anything about this online anywhere, so I thought id send the info on to you: Space at Pinewood has been booked for November & December 2018 to hold auditions for a Marvel project called CAPTAIN BRITAIN AND THE BLACK KNIGHT. The name of the director booked in for all these dates is GUY RITCHIE. Marvel seems to be moving fast with it to fill in the space left behind by Danny Boyle’s aborted Bond 25. Everyone is excited because it looks like another few months of solid work when we thought we would have to wait a while.”

AICN themselves say that we shouldn’t blindly trust this info, as they haven’t gotten so far as to verify it with their other connections. As reporter Pekosa Peligrosa states, though, “The report is so cool I just had to share it, whether real or not it is a fun thought to bounce around one’s noggin.”

That said, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard Captain Britain bandied about as a potential MCU star. Kevin Feige’s admitted in the past that “a lot of actors” have enquired about playing the part of Brian Braddock. Those who’ve talked about it publicly include Simon Pegg, Orlando Bloom and even Tom Hiddleston. A TV series was also rumored a while back.

What do you think, though? Could Marvel be cooking up a Captain Britain movie for us? As always, share your thoughts in the comments section down below.
