Finally, the site dished out a couple of interesting scraps on Marvel’s supernatural corner of the universe: Doctor Strange. As Marvel Studios’ president Kevin Feige alluded to in the last week, production is scheduled to begin this November with Scott Derrickson in the director’s chair and Benedict Cumberbatch set to lead as the titular character.
So far, the studio has remained relatively tight-lipped on the story, but a number of rumors began to circulate concerning the villainous contingent. The two-pronged baddie approach is thought to be adopted in the script, with Dormammu and Baron Mordu touted as the villains. Now, JoBlo’s intel posits that joining them are the Mindless Ones, who are described as humanoids made out of stone and “cut into tiny layers.”
Addressing the visuals briefly, there’s a little more on Derrickson’s aesthetic approach revealed:
The look and design of Doctor Strange is said to be on a whole other visual level, with plenty of use of astral projections and levitation, etc. Much of the action will take place “between dimensions” with lots of wild “Inception-like visuals.”
And we also have confirmation of Doctor Strange’s own costume, which will remain loyal to the characters’ authentic comic book outfit:
DOCTOR STRANGE will be wearing the traditional outfit from the comics, complete with the red cape (albeit with a much smaller collar) and blue outfit. He will also have a vest of some sort, but either way will be going for an MCU version of the classic costume, which should be a relief for those that feared Marvel may not adhere to the traditional look.
