With the film’s R rating now set in stone, the Deadpool updates are beginning to arrive thick and fast.
Production is now in full swing on the movie’s Vancouver set, and a string of photos have emerged that showcase Morena Baccarin, Haywire‘s Gina Carano and star Ryan Reynolds in costume as Wade Wilson. As this is very much acting as an origin from 20th Century Fox, the stills reveal a badly scarred Reynolds, who is likely filming the formative events that transformed Wilson from Special Forces agent into the beloved and unconventional Merc with a Mouth.
Kicking the fragments of lore established through X-Men Origins: Wolverine to the kerb, next year’s Deadpool will offer up an entirely new take on the Marvel comic book character. Judging from the red and black guise that Reynolds debuted last week, the tone and balls-to-the-wall nature isn’t the only facet that the studio is remaining loyal, as the costume is almost a like-for-like replica. Is it 2016 yet?
Tim Miller will hope to deliver a standalone adaptation worthy of its name when Deadpool slinks into theaters in time for February 12, 2016. For now, you can share your early impressions of the cast in the comments section below.
Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
